The 2022-23 college basketball season is approaching, and as unsurprising as seeing North Carolina (+1100) at the top of the plate, we’re equally accustomed to the likes of Kentucky (+1200) and Gonzaga (+1100) favorites to win the title. With or without Coach K, there’s always Duke (+1500).
Below, we’ve updated March Madness betting odds from the best online betting sites, as well as offers available from some of those sportsbooks and some NCAA basketball programs to look out for this season.

2023 March Madness bet odds: Blue Bloods, Kentucky, and Duke are among the favourites
It might seem too early to consider the possibilities of the March 2023 madness, but that’s the time of year when you might be able to get excellent value compared to a couple of months from now, certainly compared to the mid-season in most cases.
It’s no surprise that programs at the top that we usually see rank so highly each season, but the favorites to cut the nets next April (according to probabilities from Caesars Sportsbook):
North Carolina Tar Heels (+1100 or better)
The Tar Heels boot recreates the essence of a team that led by 15 points in the national title game. That includes captains RJ Davis, Caleb Love and Armando Bacot, the latter of which returns for his first season as an NBA lottery prospect and ACC Player of the Year after tying Carolina’s record to doubles in the regular season.
Pete Nance is a huge transfer for Carolina after he also pulled his name from the NBA draft and is coming from Northwestern to join this team in their effort to win just one more game than he did a season ago.
While +800 is a low number, it is easy to see why UNC is so high on everyone’s list in 2022-23. Additionally, you can find this combination at +1100 if you look hard enough.
Gonzaga Bulldogs (+1100 or better)
New star Chet Holmgren left for the NBA and finished second overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder, but three freshmen players from a team that spent most of the 2021-22 season as the nation’s #1 ranked team.
This includes Julian Strother, Racer Bolton and, of course, Drew Tim, who might just win the John R. Wooden Award as the best college basketball player in the country this year.
Southern Conference Player of the Year, Malachi Smith is also moving from Chattanooga and will join five-star recruits Hunter Sallis and Efton Reid in an effort to help this center ensure Gonzaga is #1 at the end of the season next year. we will.
Kentucky Wildcats (+1200 or better)
John Calipari added instant offense by moving in on Antonio Reeves of Illinois and getting five-star recruit Chris Livingston of Oak Hill Academy to commit.
If rising star Jacob Tobin can take the next step in his evolution, Kentucky should look like the No. 2 seed again. It already has the award-winning Oscar Chiboy Wooden, who dominated with 17.3 PPG and 15.1 RPG last season.
We’re willing to bet Kentucky has a chip on its shoulder and is going to be a force at the SEC, and you can be sure it won’t drop to the #15 spot for the second year in a row either. They were actually three disappointing endings for Kentucky, if you’re a believer in a program worthy of rebounding while having the training and talent to pull it off.
Houston Cougars (+1400 or better)
Marcus Sasser helped Houston reach the Final Four in his second season before Coggs lost to Baylor. A toe injury derailed his junior year and he played only 12 games, so he dropped out of the NBA draft and returned in his freshman year with plans to score enough to make the Cougars contenders for the national title.
Plus, this Houston team suddenly went deep after adding Texas Tech transfer Mylik Wilson along with top starters Jarace Walker and Terrance Arceneaux.
Duke Blue Devils (+1500 or better)
John Scheer will take charge of legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski in a certainly interesting season at Durham. The Blue Devils are still among the top five when it comes to the odds board, adding two top-ranked high school recruits in the country and another five-star recruit considered to be in the top ten.
Dereck Lively, Dariq Whitehead and Kyle Filipowski should all start for the Blue Devils this season, along with Illinois transfers and outstanding captain Jacob Grandison. That’s a frightening prospect for anyone else hoping to compete for a national championship.

2023 March Madness Dark Horses, Competitors: Watch for Villanova, Baylor to come back strong
For each favorite, there are one (or several) waiting in the wings as potential options with higher winning odds when comparing streaks on most sports betting apps. If you’re looking beyond the top, consider these teams:
Kansas Jayhawks (+1800 or better)
No, the team of blue blood and defending champion is not exactly black horse material, but this team lost Ochai Agbaji and Christian Brown in the NBA,
They brought back Jalen Wilson and got Texas Tech’s Kevin McCullar to play hard on both ends of the ground along with five-star recruits Grady Dick and Ernst Ode to help them make their way back into Final Four.
Baylor Beers (2000+ or better)
A year after winning the National Championship, Baylor returned to backcourt teammates Adam Flagler and LG Cryer while adding a top-10 squad to Keyonte George. If the Bears can avoid injury, they have every chance of dominating the Big 12 matches again and getting a high seed in the tournament. At +2000 this team is worth looking into if you’re spreading the money on a few contenders.
Villanova Wildcats (+5000 or better)
The 2016 and 2018 champions appear in the Final Four and the roster hasn’t changed much, although you wouldn’t know it based on Caesars’ +5000 odds.
They’ve added FIBA U18 Americas Championship stars Cameron Whitmore and Mark Armstrong, making the Final Four even better. Nova routinely prepares the Big East class, a convention many celebrate to get six or seven bands in the dance this time around.
Rutgers, Seton Hall, and St. John’s
For anyone based in New York or New Jersey, there is definitely some excitement for the college basketball season whether you root for Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John’s, or a smaller program like St. Peter or Monmouth, among others.
While the Big Three play in larger conferences, the competition also means that none of these teams favor winning their own leagues. However, you can still find odds for Seton Hall stuff (+900) to win the Big East, and the same for St John (+2500). When it comes to the Big Ten, the Rutgers (+4000) make good payouts.
Keep in mind that not all futures bets are good, and while you want radical attention for the season, it is important to be realistic and keep the amount you bet in check, especially on long bet odds.
