ESR HaloLock Car Charger with CryoBoost

After the initial announcement of MagSafe, I didn’t think it would be something I use very often. After nearly two years of MagSafe, I can’t remember the last time I used the Lightning port on my iPhone. MagSafe he is The only way I can charge my iPhone right now. I’ve used multiple MagSafe compatible car chargers, but found one that solves the only problem of charging your phone at full speed while keeping it cool: ESR HaloLock with CryoBoost.

MagSafe in the car really made a difference compared to using a standard dock in the car. Instead of manually placing my iPhone in a clip attached to a dock, I just take out the MagSafe Wallet, pop my iPhone onto the MagSafe dock, and it starts charging. When I get to my destination, I grab my iPhone, reconnect the wallet, and be off to the races. It seems like a small change, but small changes accumulate when you do it several times a day, every day.

MagSafe Challenge in the car

One of the challenges I’ve found with MagSafe over the years is how much heat it generates. You might think this would be a problem in the summer months in the US, but the opposite is true. In the summer, the car air conditioner kept my iPhone cool; Where I ran into problems in the winter months when my truck heated up most of the time. Since my iPhone was docked via MagSafe connected to one of the vents, I was going to charge the iPhone in a heat-intensive way while the heat was blowing on it. When you have a device that generates heat while charging it while blowing hot air on it, this is a challenging environment.

ESR HaloLock Car Charger with CryoBoost

This problem is what ESR aims to solve with its proprietary CryoBoost technology. Unlike any of the other MagSafe docks I’ve used, the ESR HaloLock Car Charger keeps your iPhone cool no matter what the temperature is outside or in the car. It’s designed to keep cool air flowing around your phone with a fan and keep your iPhone charging at full speed. When you initially plug it in and install your iPhone, you’ll hear the fans inside the ESR HaloLock car charger start to spin as it cools down. When there is no iPhone connected to it, the fans and light go out. Even when the fans were spinning at full speed, I could barely hear it if my music was at a very low volume. Otherwise, I didn’t notice the extra sound.

On top of doing a great job of keeping your iPhone cool no matter the weather, the ESR HaloLock car charger has some of the strongest magnets I’ve used with MagSafe. The non-slip silicone ring holds up to 1400g (versus 700g of apple) to ensure a stable fit no matter what terrain you’re driving on. I ran some rough roads recently returning from a trip to Atlanta, and my iPhone 13 Pro Max didn’t move at all. Overall, it’s a very compelling product to charge via MagSafe in the car with durable magnets and built-in cooling, so your iPhone is always at optimum temperatures. It is powered by a USB-C (on the dock side) to a USB-A cable. My truck has a USB port in the dashboard so I wrapped the cable behind the steering wheel so it’s always out of the way.

ESR HaloLock Car Charger with CryoBoost is compatible with iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models. If you are using a case, it must be a MagSafe compatible case. Right now, it’s my favorite way to use MagSafe in the car.
