Kate Moss shares why she testified in support of ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp during the defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. In May, the British model emerged via a video link to the dispute over rumors, which Heard pointed out in her own testimony, that Depp pushed her down some stairs during their relationship, which lasted from 1994 to 1998.

“I believe in truth and I believe in fairness and justice,” Moss, 48, said during an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s programme. Desert Islands Tablets On Sunday, in Sunday times.

She continued, “I know the truth about Johnny. I know he didn’t kick me down the stairs. I had to tell that truth.”

Moss, who was described by Depp’s legal team as a rebuttal witness, explained the incident that sparked rumors that the actor, now 59, became violent while staying at the Goldeneye resort in Jamaica.

“We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I left,” she told the court, referring to a rainstorm.

“When I left the room, I slipped down the stairs and hurt my back,” she continued. “And I was screaming because I was in – I didn’t know what happened to me and I was in pain. He ran back to help me and carried me to my room and got medical attention.”

Moss testified that Depp “never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me off any stairs” at any time during their relationship.

The jury ultimately ruled in Depp’s favour, awarding the actor $10.35 million in damages. Last week, Heard’s legal team appealed the ruling, while Depp seeks to clear the $2 million that a jury awarded his ex-wife on a single count in the counterclaim that accused him of making defamation allegations against her.
