J.R. Smith He has no idea why Damian Lillard He won’t leave the Trail Blazers…saying this week that he thinks the NBA star should bounce back from Portland and chase the rings elsewhere.
“Like, I love Dame,” Smith said on the upcoming episode of “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas” on Fubo Sports Network. “I love his game. I respect him for doing what he does. But at the same time, it’s like you’re going to rot in Portland, bro?”
The Lillard Trailblazer has been since the organization. He took him in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft—and he thrived there, making six All-Star games while averaging 24.6 points per game.
But, the deep courses in the playoffs were few and far between – especially because his supporting team wasn’t great. and Smith – with Gilbert Arenas – He clearly believes it is time for the 32-year-old to find a new team that will give him the proper help he needs to win the Larry O’Brien Cup.
“I’m trying to win, brother,” said Smith, the two-time NBA champion.
Arenas added that he believes the lack of rings will hurt Lillard when it comes to the nation’s conversation about his legacy.
“The people you put in front of me are nowhere near where I am, but because they’ve got a ring, they are pushed in front of me,” Arenas said.
Notwithstanding, Lillard doesn’t seem to have any desire to join the Pacific Northwest — he just signed another extension with the Trail Blazers earlier this month, and committed to the team through the 2026-27 season.
Smith’s full interview with Arenas is scheduled for Tuesday. New episodes of “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas” air every Sunday night at 7 p.m. on Fubo Sports Network.
