James Washington expected the Cowboys to miss 6-10 weeks after sustaining a broken foot in training, reports

James Washington faces his first real ordeal as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. The former Pittsburgh Steelers were kicked off the field during training camp training on Monday. Washington is expected to lose 6-10 weeks after sustaining a Jones fracture in his foot, According to ESPN.

The 60th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Washington was signed by the Cowboys this off season to help fill the void after the team traded four-time Pro Bowl recipients Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns. While he showed flashes of his potential in Pittsburgh, Washington found it hard to hit targets within the Steelers’ stacked receiving corps. His career high goals in Pittsburgh (44) came during the 2019 season, the year Mason Rudolph—the University of Washington quarterback in Oklahoma State—started over half of the Steelers’ games after Ben Roethlisberger was injured at the end of the season.

Despite no goals, Washington picked up 114 assists and 11 touchdowns during his four years in Pittsburgh. He averaged 14.3 yards per catch which included a career high of 16.7 yards per catch during the ’19 season. He earned five touchdowns in his career in 2020 while helping the Steelers win the North Asian League title.

A native of Stamford, Texas, Washington has enjoyed an outstanding college career in Oklahoma. In his four years with the Cowboys, the 6-footer Washington picked up 226 passes for 4,472 yards and 39 touchdowns. He won the Biletnikoff Award (awarded annually to the Division 1 college’s top college receiver) in 2017 having 74 passes for 1,549 yards and 13 touchdowns.
