Returning to Juventus after six years at Manchester United, Paul Pogba suffered a blow due to a ruptured meniscus.
The 29-year-old midfielder suffered an injury with United in 2021-22 and missed several months with hamstring and calf issues, but has often been left out of the starting line-ups of both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralph Rangnick when he is fit.
He left Old Trafford at the end of last season when his contract expired.
A return to Juventus, where Pogba showed the best form of his career, was a cause for optimism, but the club’s statement revealed another problem.
The club stated that, “Following the pain that occurred in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations that revealed an injury to the lateral meniscus.”
“In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist consultation with orthopedic surgery. Therefore, he will not participate in the trip to Dallas to continue treatment.”
Juventus finished fourth in Serie A last season, 16 points behind title-winning Milan.
