Imagine if Batman had an Iron Man suit, as well as a son, and his son and his friends discovered the bat cave. This is the general configuration of Secret Headquartersa new movie coming soon Paramount+ on August 12, and the first trailer is here.
Directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (who recently directed the Netflix movie Project Power but came into the limelight with the documentary Catfish), Secret Headquarters starsOwen Wilson (Loki) as a superhero and Walker Scobell (The Adam Project) as his son. When dad goes on a mission, son finds his “secret headquarters” filled with cool superhero stuff and all hell breaks loose. Here is the trailer.
I mean come on. It looks like a modern spy on kids except if, instead of being a spy, the adult had superhero armor. Plus the supporting cast, by Michael Peña (The ant Man) and Jesse Williams (The cabin in the woods) to Keith L. Williams (good boys) and Momona Tamada (The Babysitters Club), is stellar. This movie looks like a ton of fun.
But… then all this enthusiasm collides with a sad reality. Secret Headquarters has been originally is going to be a theatrical release. Now that is not the case. Paramount has been on the cash over the past year with which of its big movies hold out for theaters no matter what (The Lost City, Scream, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Top Gun: Maverick) and which one to push to streaming (Coming 2 America, the war of tomorrow). This Secret Headquarters falls into the latter category does not show much confidence in the final product, excellent trailer to be stemmed. Nonetheless, we hope this one lives up to its potential, which is certainly superheroic.
Secret Headquarters will be released on Paramount+ in the United States and Canada on August 12. It will be released later this year in international territories where Paramount+ is available.
