Wisconsin Badgers basketball recruits: UW 2024 introduces big man Royce Parham

College basketball coaches have been racking up frequent miles in the past week with several big popular leagues going on, not least the Peach Jam and Under Armor Association Finals. Wisconsin coaches were checking a number of recruits and found at least one new player to offer.

2024 4-star (Rated On3 only), big man Royce Parham (Pittsburgh) of North Hills High School and Durant’s team at the Nike AAU Circuit announced on Twitter late Saturday night that he got an offer from Greg Gard’s Badgers. He currently holds other offerings from Duquesne, George Mason, Penn State, Pete, Robert Morris, Rutgers, TCU, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Xavier.

Parham stands at 6 feet 9 and weighs 200 pounds. On3 ranked him as the No. 53 and No. 11 PF player in the 2024 class while also ranked him as the 3rd best player in Pennsylvania. His On3 predictions listed Duquesne’s hometown and Pennsylvania as a priority. According to an interview with Jimmy Choo, Nittany Lions will likely take a long look because his mom is the leader of the school’s all-time banned shots.

He averaged 20.8 points, nine rebounds, and six blocks per game while shooting 64.2% from the field and 74.4% from the free throw line last season as a sophomore. North Hills had the best year in school history, going 26-2, making the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) final for the second time ever and reaching the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) 6A (the largest school in the state) quarter Final for the first time ever.

Parham was also named to the Penn State Mathematical Writers Team for Class 6A, which, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, is unusual for a sophomore. In fact, since all-state teams were selected by school rankings, only three sophomores from the Pittsburgh area made an all-state team.

There is a lot to like about Parham, even in these short videos. He has the ability to go out and do triples, which is a must when you consider the possibility of pairing him with big man 2023 Gus Yalden who has a more traditional game.

Parham’s defensive instincts are fully shown in the second video. He doesn’t fall for the fake first pump and isn’t overly aggressive, even when coming from behind to hit a shot. It actually looks like it could be a plus rim guard and has the ability to grow an inch or two more, making it even more powerful on the inside.

Its bounce looks good too. He shoots the ball high, using his height and long arms to his advantage, and is also able to bounce off players without making a mistake. Parham is the kind of player anyone would want on his team and he’s definitely worth keeping an eye on over the next year to see if Wisconsin is involved in this hiring.
